Overknitting. A common problem here at the Uknit2 headquarters. Keep reading to find out about the effective and attractive Hot Cold Comfort packs. There is a coupon code just for my readers and best of all, you could win a Thumb Wrap of your very own! Because you know I’m an enabler when it comes to excessive knitting…
My right hand frequently gives me trouble when I knit, type, or write too much. Tired of ibuprofen and leaky Ziplock bags of ice, I went online in search of some kind of hand sleeve that I could use instead. I stumbled upon Hot Cold Comfort Natural Pain Relief products by the Ferris Wheels.
I contacted them and they were nice enough to provide me with one of their Thumb Wraps to try out, and one to give away (details at bottom). Here’s what the Ferris Wheels have to say about their product:
This isn’t your grandma’s rice sock, folks, this is really nice, really pretty stuff. These rice wraps provide moist heat when microwaved, and can also be frozen to treat inflamation.
The Thumb Wrap ($20.95) comes in your choice of seven different flannel prints. Mine is the houndstooth. You can adjust the fit of the wrap by shaking the rice up or down and spreading it with your fingers until it is comfortable.
I love that it covers the entire thumb joint very well, and also has the added benefit of wrapping nicely around the wrist to provide heat/cold there as well.
While you may not be able to knit while wearing it, you can easily type, talk on the phone, pick up, and go on about your daily business.
I prefer mine to be cold (works best with my type of pain), but it felt really yummy warmed up.
In addition to neck, shoulder, back, sinus, eye, feet, and hot flash products, Hot Cold Comfort offers other products that would specifically interest knitters and crocheters: a slip-on wrap for wrists, wrist supports that can be heated or chilled, and hand mitts.
One of my favorite products is the Heat/Cold Headband Pack. Perfect for headaches and TMJ pain.
All of their products come in several pattern choices. Here are the options for the Thumb Wrap:
You can also choose to have your Hot Cold Pack scented (no charge) with lavender or chamomile essential oil. If scented products bother you, choose unscented. Want another scent or want to use aromatherapy? HotColdComfort offers aromatherapy spritzers to use on your packs. What a great idea! They offer blends such as: Nausea Relief (great for pregnancy or illness), Sinus Ease, Relax, Energizer, and Sore Joint Relief. The sprays are all natural, use essential oils, and are specifically formulated for use on Microwave Heat an Cold Packs.
Hot Cold Comfort have generously provided a coupon code for my readers to use to get 15% off their order at www.hotcoldcomfort.com: aug2012. It’s good through the end of the month of August.

I love the sinus pack. I will have to get me one of those!
I could definitely use the migraine relief pack as many headaches as I have or the office gift set is also neat!
I’m thinking about buying a maternity gift pack for my daughter and a neck/shoulder wrap for me. These look awesome!
I would like to try the neck and should heat packs.
For my Fibromyalgia and arthritis I would love to try any of them but the neck and shoulder would be a great choice. Thanks for the great giveaway!
I would love to have the heated footwarmers and one of the lap blankets. Both would be great for warming a cold bed in the winter (tho I can’t really imagine a cold bed this month, I know in a few months I’ll be dealing with one again).
I love the migraine relief pack, it is so hard to try and balance and ice pack on your head normally and I get terrible migraines!
Congratulations Kim! You’re the winner! Sally from The Ferris Wheels will be contacting you!
I did the rafflecopter too but think my log in showed up as halloweentangundefined instead of halloweentango. But I will say that I love this idea!!!! I also really like the extra large back neck shoulders one.
Halloweentango on rav
as long as you use the same email address on Rafflecopter and here I can tell. I can usually figure it out with no issues anyway. Thanks! I know, they look fantastic. I just put in an order for a wrist wrap.
Great, thank you!
yay! that is so cool! Thank you so much!!
I would really use the migraine heating pack and I could really use right now !
I like the fibromyalgia survival kit.
I’ve always thought my thumb pain originated from opening baby food jars. I guess I should have made my own baby food. But these look great.
Oh. I goofed. Aside from the thumb pack, which is my favorite, a sinus pack would be great too.
